Daniel La Peur – The man behind the mask

Daniel La Peur is not a name – it is a concept. An artist who does not want to be seen, but heard and felt. He wears a mask, not to hide, but to be free. Free from superficiality. Free from the pressure to sell a face instead of telling a story.

His story began when he first entered a youth centre at the age of twelve: fog, lights, bass – and a DJ who got a whole crowd moving with just sound. That moment was the trigger. Fascination turned into passion, curiosity into obsession. Soon Daniel built his own turntable, DJed, experimented. The Roland MC-303 was his first step from DJing to creating. Then came more machines, more timbres – and finally the decision that music would become his language, even though he never learned to read music.

Trance, gothic, house, soulful sounds – Daniel explored them all, deconstructed them and put them back together again. Today, he combines them into something of his own: a mixture of synthpop, 80s influences, playful modern sounds and electronic depth. Not a trendy sound, but a signature style. “I want music that tells a story. Not just something that starts and ends – but grows, breathes, builds, dissolves. Music needs time to be felt.”

Behind every piece is an emotion: fear, loneliness, loss, but also hope and strength. Daniel has been struggling with depression and anxiety disorders for years – but his music is his outlet, his escape, his antidote. Each track becomes a translation of his thoughts into frequencies.

And the mask? – It is a symbol. Protection. Expression. A promise that his world is not about the face behind the music, but about the heart in the music.
